N Scale Model Railroading
N scale is the smallest of the four most common model railroading gauges (N, HO, O, G) making it ideal when
space limitations are the number one priority when choosing a scale.

1:160 Scale

Engines: A typical basic N gauge locomotive will range from as low as $40.00-$50.00 for a very basic diesel engine to
$275.00 or more for a large detailed steam locomotive.

Rolling Stock: N gauge rolling stock can run as little as $5.00 for a very basic tank car to $80.00
or more for detailed passenger cars.

Structures: N gauge buildings can run anywhere from $5.00 to $200.00 or more depending on size and detail.

Space Requirement
A classic figure 8 style setup in N gauge will measure roughly 19 by 42 inches.

Why Choose N Scale?
N scale is best when space is at a premium.
N Scale also provides the best scenery to track ratio.
Even if space is available for HO or O scale modeling N scale is a good choice for the hobbyist that desires
an intricate mainline layout. A detailed N scale layout with a town and detailed geographic features can be
built with a footprint equal to that of a very basic oval O gauge layout.

One of the best resources for any model railroader is simply asking someone
with experience questions about the hobby.
