HO Scale Model Railroading
HO Scale is generally the most commonly modeled of the four major gauges
(N, HO, O, G) because it features good detail in a relatively
small package with reasonable pricing.
Engines: A typical basic HO scale locomotive will range from as low as $30.00-$40.00 for a very basic diesel engine to
$500.00 or more for a large detailed steam locomotive.
Rolling Stock: HO scale rolling stock can run as little as $4.00 for a very basic tank car to $60.00
or more for detailed passenger cars.
Structures: HO scale buildings can run anywhere from $3.00 to $300.00 or more depending on size and detail.
A classic figure 8 style setup in HO scale will measure roughly 48 by 96 inches.
Why Choose HO Scale?
HO scale balances great detail and features with a relatively small size making it a great
choice if detail is important to you but space is somewhat limited.
Because of the popularity of the scale the selection of
products available is the best of all major gauges with a number
of different manufacturers competing to keep prices low.
One of the best resources for any model railroader is simply asking someone
with experience questions about the hobby.
